Application of ultrasonic non-contact flow switches
The ultrasonic flow switch is a contactless flow switch, which means that the flow switch does not actually need to break the wall of the pipe, pipe, or channel to monitor the flow.
Instead, the ultrasonic sensor can be clamped to the outside of the catheter, where it pings the signal from the sensor back and forth to read the flow rate and respond to it. The signal is refracted and reflected in the stream before returning to the sensor, and the doppler effect can then be used to calculate the flow rate.
Because ultrasonic flow switches usually rely on the uniform flow of liquid within a liquid, they are often not suitable for use in wastewater containing particles or bubbles, and are more commonly used for monitoring pure corrosive liquids and other "dirty" media. Due to the danger of interference signals, clamps are only suitable for certain types of unlined pipes, and are therefore rarely seen on liner.
